Few words on VR porn review

We should probably talk about VR. After all, it’s still something of a newer, emerging technology, and to be fair, not everyone will have a full and complete understanding of it’s benefits – or for that matter, it’s costs, or other disadvantages. Porn and gaming – mostly porn! – are driving the development of this tech and driving it hard, and it’s gotten significantly better in just the past couple of years. So we can begin with a quick primer on the concept and execution of VR – folks who already know can feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs if you want.

VR, at the base level, is very simple: it’s a technology that replaces the traditional television or monitor screen by placing a pair of screens or sometimes a single, divided screen, one screen or side for each eye, much closer to your eyes on a head mounted device, often referred to as a pair of goggles. This has a couple consequences. First, it can be harder to run VR content because you’re running an equivalent or better pixel-density video or experience across not one, but two different screens. As a corollary, it can look much better for the same reason. But it also opens up other options, such as head movement being tracked, allowing for actually useful 180 or 360 degree visual experiences in a space like porn, where on a monitor or TV you’d have little to no reason to pan around. (Hint: Anyone like orgies?) Sometimes VR can be done, and even done well with a phone, even, but don’t expect a lower-end phone or laptop to really handle the load well.

Meanwhile, there are a variety of devices available. These include the Oculus Rift and Go, Playstation VR, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR, and a number of others. More are coming on the market every year, and each one has it’s own benefits and drawbacks – including a huge range of prices. You should check a hardware review site if you want into VR, since it’s outside the scope of our site to go into the length of detail that would be required to give you an idea of which devices are better for you. However, some of the things you should look at – aside from price, of course – is whether you want a phone-based system (if you have a capable phone), one that allows hands-free, head-tracking controls, and effective resolution capabilities. For porn purposes, you probably won’t be too worried about things like “room-scale VR”, high frame-rates, and other features – those are mostly gaming features.

There are a lot of porn companies producing VR content right now, and we have a whole section on the website dedicated to them. Still, we’d like to give one a spotlight: VRBangers. These folks have implemented compatibility with basically every significant VR device, while producing porn held to the highest possible technical standards so far, and they already have hundreds of videos, with a great update schedule. They even have binaural sound – an important feature for better immersion. They are, to put it bluntly, the single best introduction to VR porn available right now, and we can’t recommend them enough if you’re curious.
